The Executive Director, Prisoners’ Rights Advocacy Initiative, Ahmed Adetola- Kazeem has condemned the declining state of prisons in Lagos, especially the Badagry Prison.
In a letter to the State governor Akinwunmi Ambode, Mr. Kazeem stated on the 18th of August, 2017 that despite the fact that prisons have been funded and overseen by the Federal Government (FG), prison inmates of the state were jailed because of state offenses.

NAPTIP ARRESTS HUMAN TRAFFICKERS OVER GIRLS’ TRAFFICKING
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has arrested an Ozigi Abdulkarim, who allegedly lured his 19-year-old girlfriend into prostitution in the Abu Dhabi of United Arab Emirates.
This was imbedded in a statement by the NAPTIP Head, Press and Public Relations, Josiah Emerole.
It was stated that the victim was recruited from Gwarimpa in Abuja, by Mr. Abdulkarim and two others; Ngozi Ani and Princewill James – for onward transfer to an alleged trafficking kingpin, Rita Ani, in the UAE.

Former Teammates Remember Nigerian Football Legend, Sam Okwaraji Onthe 28th Anniversary Of His Death
Saturday 12, marked the 28th anniversary of football legend Samuel Sochukwuma Okwaraji’s tragic death.
The dreadlocked Nigerian midfielder slumped and died on August 12, 1989 at the National Stadium, Lagos, during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying March with Angola.
The qualified lawyer, who had a masters in international law from the University of Rome, Okwaraji collapsed ten minutes from the end of the match and died from congestive heart failure. He was only 25.
An autopsy showed that he had an enlarged heart and high blood pressure.
Okwaraji also entered the record books as the fastest scorer at the 1988 Africa Cup of Nations, which was the only edition he featured.
