There are indications that the management of Manchester United may snub Jose Mourinho as their new manager to appoint former team captain, Ryan Giggs, as Louis van Gaal’s successor.
The former Chelsea boss has been linked with the Old Trafford club and the Portuguese is said to be the favourite for the job at the end of the season.
Sunday Mirror (UK) reports that Mourinho’s reluctance to bring in younger players has deemed his chances at the club. It is claimed “powerful influences” within the Old Trafford boardroom feel Mourinho “can’t be trusted” to keep faith with their philosophy of promoting talent from the academy. It would also be recalled that quite a number of young players have made their debut under Van Gaal since he arrived in 2015 including Marcus Rashford, Paddy McNair and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson.
Mourinho’s fate has been left hanging in the balance with news that Ryan Giggs is being groomed as a possible replacement for Van Gaal.
