SUYA SELLER PLEADS GUILTY OVER ATTEMPT TO SLAUGHTER FOUR YEAR OLD GIRL PUAH OMOKHUALE One Suya seller, Halilu Abdulahi has on Wednesday pleaded guilty to an attempt to split the throat of a four-year-old girl. He pleaded this at the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos. Abdullahi a 40 yr old suya seller was arraigned before Chief Magistrate A. O. Ajibade on the charges of attempted murder and an unlawful assault. The Prosecutor, Sergeant. Hafsat Ajibode, told the court that the accused committed the two offences on Friday Aug. 18 at 5.35 p.m. in No. 1, Denton St., Ebute Meta. Sergent Ajibode said the accused enticed the young girl, Alimat Durojaiye, with a biscuit while she was playing with her peers. According to a report by the sergeant, “The accused had fled with the child to the Whitesands area of Oyingbo market where he attempted to cut her throat with a knife. “It was a passerby, Muritala Mahmud, who heard the screaming of the child and rushed to save her. “In the process of saving her, he got his left hand bitten by the accused while the accused tryed to escape,” the Sergeant explained. The report, that the offenses be in breach of Sections 173 and 230 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised). Sergeant Ajibade has fixed Sept. 11 for facts and sentence.
